Last Week, Today

I’m really enjoying writing these “looks-in-review” weekly blogposts for you friends 🙂

Hope you’re enjoying reading them…

Here’s what I got up to last week:

Back in the Habit Again

Sooooo this happened.  Sister Irene appeared last weekend for the annual Swing Out To Victory dinner/dance event in Hamilton.

Click here to see 2014 and 2015‘s event.

Here I am in all of my holy glory.  Don’t worry – it was sacramental wine I was drinking 😉

Don’t look too closely, as I sewed this costume myself… still can’t believe it!

I was apart of a fantastic costume theme – where 11 of us dressed as the cast of The Sound of Music.  Complete with the Baroness, The Captain, Maria, all 7 Von Trapp children and of course the Rev. Mother …moi! 🙂

This wasn’t the first time I showed off my ‘nun-sense side’.  Check out the below from my days of Halloween costuming in elementary school.

Happy to report we WON 1 place for the Best Dressed contest this year!!!  Huge deal, considering this was my first attempt at sewing anything.

Special thanks to my mom for her sewing machine + help & guidance with laughs. 🙂

Stylish & Warm

Last week the temps dipped into the negatives which forced me to get all bundled up in winter outer wear.

I found this lovely shop on WQW called Pockets & Pearls with this gorgeous wool hat.  The broad brim and tricolour of merlot-camel-navy …

The navy jacket is from Eloquii’s new petite line.  The first time a coat has fit me properly in the shoulders and in the length of the arms.  If you haven’t checked them out before – you should!!!!

Toddler-Granny

I’ve always have a hard time explaining what my “personal style” truly is.  Until I read this article:  ‘Toddler Grandma Style,’ The Fashion Approach That Will Set You Free

I’m always a sucker for a cute print on a dress.  Found this foxy frock at Forever 21+…

Simply paired it with a vintage gold-button cashmere cardi and booties.  And voila!

A Casual Friday Office Appropriate outfit was born 🙂

There you have it –  what  I wore, last week.

Hope I’ve created a few inspirations for you to try this week.  xo

Last Week, Today

My office wear series continues with more shameless bathroom selfies and corporate business casual looks that I made happen last week.

I’m hoping they’ll bring you some inspiration for your stylish selves this week 🙂

Sweater Weather….Ooh LaLa

I’ve yet to turn over my closet from summer to winter.  And I’m doing everything I can to avoid wearing pantyhose until absolutely necessary.  Enter knee-high knit socks.

How I Got The Look…..Sweater: Old Navy (click here for other looks); Bird skirt: Old Navy (click here); Knee-high socks: Ardene; Shoes: Nine West (click here)

What I’m loving about this look is how easy it is, but looks like I spent time coordinating colours and graphic prints.  Pssst….I didn’t!

Check my Instagram for more pics and to find out how I got this outfit inspiration in the first place 😉

Camel Cutie

This sandy camel colour sweater is an XL from JoeFresh.  Totally fell in love with the adorable and detailed neckline.

I struggled a little to find a way to wear this sweater that WASN’T a basic black bottom.

And then I remembered this batik printed skirts I picked up from The Central Market in KL, Malaysia ….

How I Got the Look: Sweater, JoeFresh; Skirt, travels to Malaysia click here; Flats from Payless, click here

Casual Friday Pawfection

Do you remember this doggie sweatshirt I picked up recently?

I totally didn’t need it.  It was a total impulse buy.  But I managed to take it to the office on my first “casual Friday” #ootd in a long, long time.

How I Got the Look: Sweater & Jeans, F21+, Scarf, H&M; Boots, Payless, Earrings, MyBeadedDesigns

It just so happened that I had the paw-fect earring set to match too!  Click here to read more about these PAWs and how to get yourself a pair. There you have it friends.  A few of my real life “outfit of the day” from last week.

Last week, Today

Hey, hey, hey….it’s Monday!  And you know what that means – NEW BLOGPOST!

I’ve been battling my iPhone4s photo taking space… yes, it’s an old eff’ing phone…but it doesn’t have a cracked screen and I can’t bring myself to buy a new one just yet 😛

But I’m committed to recapping my outfits of the week (when I remember to take a snap) into a weekly blogpost for you in a fun series called:  Last Week, Today.

Gatsby Glam

GATSBY GLAM Dress from Unique Vintage in LA – I’m wearing a 2x

I got to be a California Girl last week – check out all the fun things I did on Instagram!!!

And that’s when I got to go shopping at Unique Vintage in LA….who carry lovely reproduction pieces with sizes going all the way up to 4x!

Gatsby Glam is something I struggle with – so when I found this lovely on the sale rack, I had to try it on and hope for the best.  It was a bit too small for me, but still lovely none the less.  Pardon my lack of slip.

Drappy Jumpsuit

How I Got The Look:  Shoes, Payless; Blazer, INC Hudson Bay Co.; Belt, Reitmans; Jumpsuit, Venice Beach shop (forget the name :/)

Whist in LA last week, I found this drappy black jumpsuit from a shop on Venice Beach.  I really wasn’t sure it would work for me, but it was such a different shape than anything I’ve styled before, that I decided to bring it home with me 🙂

I made it “office appropriate” by pairing it with a hot pink blazer, wide belt and lace-up flats.  You likee?

Bicycle Swirls

Dress: Tatyana Boutique; Belt: Reitmans

My last look from last week is this great Tatyana bicycle print dress with the greatest capped sleeves ever!

I wore it with the same wide belt I wore earlier that week with the drappy jumpsuit to tame the fun print for corporate life. 🙂

There you have it friends – what I wore last week – hope it provided some fashion inspiration for you to try yourself.

Follow me on Instagram for all my life+style moments as they happen 😉
