Spring Double Feature: Bolder Shoulders

How much have you been enjoying this week’s posts friends? ¬†Has it given you some inspirations … that you’re gonna try this Spring? Hope so! ūüôā

All week long, Cassie from Style Cassentials, and I have been putting our own twists on several Spring trends.

And to end the week and our collaborative series… today we’re talking about…

Spring Trend:  Bolder Shoulders

unspecified-16I’ve said it earlier, and I’m saying it again: ¬†I¬†have not been wow’d by retailers this Spring. :/

Not enough to be spending my hard-earned Canadian Dollars with the exchange rate being so pitiful.

But when I saw THIS off-the-shoulder number from SmartGlamour … and I¬†was a goner! ‚̧

Smart Glamour’s¬†Marilyn Convertible Dress…is all kinds of YES!

Note: this floral print is now sold out Рbut there are two other prints available + tons of solids +  new jersey prints for Summer too!Petite Plus, Meow! for Smart Glamour

The pattern of this coral floral is just swoon-worthy ‚̧ ‚̧ ‚̧ Totally wearable in the Spring AND Summer months.

AND it can be worn 3 Different ways!!!

  1. The ruffle is attached at the front & back so it can be worn with one up/one down for a tropical look
  2. The ruffle can be worn around your arms for an off-the-shoulder look, and
  3. The ruffle can be worn as a tube dress

Untitled

Um, so that’s basically 3 whole different dresses wrapped into 1 gorgeous, rich fabric! ‚̧

What’s great about SmartGlamour clothes is that (for a small fee) you an customize your order to YOUR measurements and have your pieces fit you perfectly!smart glamour petite plus meow!

That’s what I did. ¬†I also asked that the length of the skirt stop just at my knee to show off my gams ūüėČ

AND cuz of its body con fit … you can wear it under a full skirt, and get 3 MORE different looks outta this dress!!!

Petite Plus, Meow

It was a super windy (and cold) Spring day for this photoshoot…but the amazing Rebecca Northcott still managed to make the weather work for her to capture these fabu shots!

Spring Double Feature: Citron Chartreuse

We’re in the homestretch of this weeks’ special Spring Double Feature with¬†Cassie from¬†Style Cassentials.

Together, we’ve been exploring and putting our own twists on several Spring trends.

And today we’re talking about…

Spring Trend: Citron Chartreuse  unspecified-2
Is  chartreuse a yellow or a green?

I love both of these colours equally, as they both look fantastic with my skin tone.  After a bit of research, it turns out that chartreuse is about halfway between the two.

So, when you’re looking for a chartreuse-lime top, half of the time, you’ll find it in a search for yellow and half the time you’ll find it in a search for green.
unspecified-5

I am loving the bright, tropical, greenish yellow hue.

I started seeing a bit of this last summer…but in my shopping efforts to get ready for this Spring Collaboration I’ve been seeing this trend everywhere!!!

unspecified-4

Even if yellow-green isn’t quite your thing as a colour to wear ….

Simply adding an accessory or two (I‚Äôm talking a handbag, a scarf, a belt, a pair of gloves) in a cheerful yellow, or a tropical green will really give your springtime outfit that edgy warmth.¬† While allowing you to dip your baby toe in for this seasonal trend. ūüėČ

Spring Double Feature: Stripe Storm

Happy Hump Day!!!

EVERYDAY THIS WEEK  Cassie from Style Cassentials and I are exploring and putting our own twists on several Spring trends!

Today’s¬†Spring Trend: ¬†Stripe Storm

Be they Horizontal, Vertical, Asymmetrical …

Every which way there is a stripe storm ahead for Spring and Summer this year!!!

unspecified-3

This stripped linen dress is lightly lined, with vertical and horizontal stripes AND buttons all down the front could possibly be the¬†trifecta of plus-sized *DON’TS*¬†according to “Style Rules” for the Curvy/Plus/Full-Figured/Fat Babe that some people out there subscribe to.

I have been on the hunt for the last few months and nothing has really woo’ed me enough to spend my hard-earned money on.

But¬†Old Navy has really stepped up their game this season…and I’ve found lots of luck in their straight sizes.

Just look at it!!! ¬†It’s fantastic!!! ūüôā

unspecified-5
I couldn’t help myself – this Boho/70s/cowgirl western vibe isn’t for everyone. But I’m a fan!!! ‚̧

Fringe was also a big trend at New York’s Fashion Week (Spring 2016)!!! ¬†And I don’t just mean accessories. ¬†These stylishly-slashed-edges are lining skirts, dresses and jackets in addition to bags, shoes and earrings that started appearing everywhere last Fall..

Yes, any way you slice it, fringe is in.

I kinda boarded this fringe-train this past Fall, introducing just little elements of it … like purses +tassels. ¬†But knowing that this trend is gonna be everywhere this Spring, I was on the hunt to find that perfect piece that suits my vibe.

And then I found this brown suede vest….and was finally able to introduce the shredded hemlines into an outfit! ūüėÄ

unspecified-6
How I Got The Look:  Fringed suede vest, Winners; Stripped dress, Old Navy; Hat, Reitmans; Bracelets, Forever21; Platform sandals and Toupe booties, NineWest; Blown-glass necklace, old.

Cassie went for colourful stripes and a sweet off-the-shoulder black top.  Adorbz!

Spring Double Feature: Fetching Florals

Our special Spring Trends Double Feature continues with fellow petite plus blogger, Cassie from Style Cassentials.

Today we’re talking about Fetching Florals. ¬†

‚ÄúFlorals for Spring.¬† How original.‚ÄĚ ‚Äď Miranda Presley, The Devil Wears Prada

This is not a new trend, I know.  But the truth is be I *don’t* actually have many floral pieces in my wardrobe.

I have really been struggling to find a spring outfit to fit this theme … that I actually wanna wear.

And then I found this!!!!

unspecified

I’ve been longing to find the perfect pastel to grace my spring wear.

When I found this wide leg culotte pant jumpsuit in this great pantone custard + floral pattern … I was nervous when I added it to my cart without trying it on.

Plus size onesies aren’t always magical :/ (Click here ¬†and here¬†and here¬†for more on my thoughts on jumpsuits).

Petite Plus, Meow

But the colour,¬†a soft lime custard. ‚̧ ¬†The floral print in lovely pastel colours. ‚̧

Just look at that sweet little keyhole with button closure in back! ‚̧ ¬†The slant pockets! ‚̧

And the fabric…. oh-so soft and lightweight rayon, super easy to wear into the Summer months too. ‚̧ ‚̧ ‚̧

unspecified-6

The elasticized waist with drawstring tie, helps give me a nice cinched-in look.

I wasn’t sure about the¬†loose, wide cropped leg look on my frame …but I’m so glad that I didn’t let that keep me away. ūüôā

Since I’m petite (short), it hits me a bit past mid-calf mark…so maybe I’ll get this hemmed a bit

unspecified-5

Where did I find this V-Neck Jumpsuit that fits all of my ample top and bottom halves? ūüėģ

Old eff’ing Navy!!

They are just killing it this season with their pieces!

And when I checked out online, I got 41% off + FREE shipping! #winning    Affordable, trendy, good-looking Spring fashion.

You Can’t Go Wrong!!

How I Got The Look: Floral jumpsuit, Old Navy; Jelly shoes from my Malaysia trip last year; Sandals + flower clips from Aldo; Aviator sunnies from some shop on WQW

Spring Double Feature: Doing White Right

Toronto finally had amazing weather this past weekend. ¬†Which makes what I’m about to announce even more timely!!! ūüėČ

Petite Plus, Meow! is proudly bringing you another special Double Feature with fellow petite plus blogger, Cassie from Style Cassentials.

Together, we will be exploring and putting our own twists on several Spring trends…all this week!

Today we’re talking about¬†Doing White Right.

unspecified-13

This¬†enchanting Tatyana¬†Boutique Flower Cart dress is adorable … and restocked for this season …just sayin’ ūüėČ

I picked it up during their blow-out sale this past Fall….and have been waiting patiently for warmer months arrival to finally take this faboulousness out to be seen. unspecified-10 It’s made from a supple cotton blend in a clean white with pops of vivacious green trim at the arms, with red shoulder straps…

And just look that the cutest flower cart hem detail of the skirt. ‚̧ ‚̧ ‚̧

Petite Plus, Meow! wearing Tatyana Flower Cart dress
How I Got The Look: Dress from Tatyana; Sunnies and Purse are vintage finds; Heels from Aldo; Sneakers are Keds

What I really loved about this dress is the scalloped off-the-shoulder design!!! ‚̧

The adjustable straps and a fitted bodice that’s darted through the natural waist adds some visual interest too.

The dress came with a skinny yellow belt to help highlight an hourglass figure and helps break-up all the whiteness of this frock.

Petite Plus Meow in Tatyana Flower Cart Dress

Sadly, if you’re a top-heavy/chesty/a member of the big-titty-committee this skinny belt might get a bit lost. ūüėõ

Note To Self: must buy thicker yellow belt.

This voluminous gathered A-line swing skirt has hidden side pockets (#winning) and goes perfectly with heels OR casual Keds.

The perfect for Springtime and ready for Summertime too!

WHATEVE’R?! Clueless Homage

Cher. Dionne. Tai.  Even Ambuler.  These ladies shaped the 90s in one of the most iconic movies ever.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Clueless.

12891604_1128006533916929_3769062428242761332_o

Clueless¬†is an unabashed celebration of being a girly girl. The ladies love fashion, makeup, and shopping yet their interests aren’t portrayed as silly or symbolic of their feminine natures.

Because strangely enough you can like high heels and lipstick and still like boys and be a bad-ass-bitch too. ūüėČ

How many fantastic, over-the-top looks were there in this flick? ¬†I’ve just picked out the few that I really, really loved….

enhanced-5224-1436893518-1
SO. MUCH. PLEATED. PLAID. ‚̧

Now this below look was Cher’s 2nd choice of course, as she couldn’t find her 1st choice before her driving test… ūüėČ

Where’s my white collarless shirt from Fred Segal! It’s my most capable-looking outfit!

CHER’S “MOST CAPABLE” OUTFIT

Sweater vest. ¬†Untucked pinstriped collared shirt. ¬†Plaid skirt. ‚̧ ‚̧ ‚̧

I just love this red outfit Cher’s wearing while playing cupid to Mr. Hall and Miss Geist.

CHER’S MATCH-MAKING LOOK

And last, but not least, this sweet pale pink satin ensemble Cher wears for Mr. Hall and Miss Geist’s wedding …

Kinda timeless, hm?

PRETTY IN PINK FOR THE WEDDING

What else makes this movie so great?

Well, this may be the only film we have that proves that Paul Rudd did at one point have the ability to age.

paul-rudd-clueless
Gwad! ¬†He’s. So. Dreamy. ‚̧

In addition to all of the above…..this flick introduced us to smart, real words like ‚Äúsporadically‚ÄĚ and ‚Äúexistential‚ÄĚ while simultaneously creating an entire new teen-friendly vocabulary of words like ‚Äúbuggin‚Äô,‚ÄĚ ‚Äújeepin‚Äô,‚ÄĚ and ‚Äúhagsville.‚ÄĚ ūüôā

And for the love of one-liners …. many of which continue to come outta my mouth occasional…

Whateve’r!?

Ugh, As If!

Rollin’ with the Homies

She’s a full on Monet

People will be quoting this movie for the rest of eternity.

Need help translating Clueless terms to their meanings now?  Click here!DSC03578

This past weekend, I was doing just that, Rolling with my Homies at the Quote-A-Long screening at the Bloor Cinema to do just that.

Naturally, we had to dress the part…

clueless
Two total Betties and a Baldwin ūüėČ

How I Got The Look: Skirt, Forever21+; Argyle sweater, Reitmans; Glossy Mary-Janes, Payless; Knee-high socks super old

I had another outfit planned …see my Instagram channel , if your curious – oh, and follow me ūüėČ …but since it was eff’ing cold, I went to this argyle sweater instead.

¬†Oooooooo! Project!! ūüėČ

There you have it friends…What I Did AND What I Wore!

Still can’t believe it’s been 20 years of Clueless. ¬†Not sure how that happened, as I haven’t aged a day ūüėČ

Hope you enjoyed this post…and this great spoof below.

I’m Audi! ¬†xo ‚̧

Boobs & Bra-blems

Did you know that 90% of women are wearing the wrong bra size!? ūüėģ

Did you know that many women (myself included) also take several different bra sizes, depending on the shape, cut, fabric and brand of the bra. :/

AND….did you know most women are not entirely symmetrical, meaning they may have¬†uneven breasts! ūüėģ

78348578_l
Photo taken from the article: New York Women Draw Their Own Boobs

Your shape is unique, which makes it sometimes difficult to find bras that are made in standard sizes, work for you.  I am desperately in need of a bra-shopping-haul.

Buuuuuuut with the CAD$¬†being in the toilet right now, cross-boarder shopping and online shopping has been put on pause until further notice. ūüė¶

So I thought we could all use a good ol’ rant about boobs and our bra-blems!!!

Underwires stabbing you in the chest.

Straps constantly falling down.

Riding up back-band.

Oh and a personal favourite: The Quadboob…ugh! #TheWorst8c1dcb70-1761-0132-084e-0eae5eefacd9

Just writing these few frustrations is annoying enough.

But we – the boob having ones – have to deal with these frustrations on a daily basis, forever!!!

No wonder all of us women agree that ripping off your bra the moment you walk in the door at the end of a long day is THE MOST glorious feeling!12592515_10153563371154072_4260555242844716905_n

So, let’s look at some solutions to some of these common bra-blems…

BACK BAND RIDING UP

If the band of your bra rides up in the back (i.e. curves towards your neck, not straight across your back), that indicates that the  band size is too big.

Solution:  Go down a band size.

Remember that the cup and band are not independent;¬†cup volume changes if you change only the band size. And every brand of bras is different … so its best to get properly bra fitted EVERY TIME you’re out shopping for a new bra.

Screen Shot 2016-04-03 at 12.12.53 PM

QUADBOOB + UNDERWIRE POKE

Quadboob occurs when breasts spill over the cups, either on the tops or out the sides (like into the armpit area), giving an impression of four breasts.  If this happens, generally that means the cup is too small and you need to go up a cup size.

Sometimes even if the cups are the right volume, too wide wires can cause a bra to cut into the breast tissue, making the bra look too small. Screen Shot 2016-04-03 at 12.12.43 PM

If the underwire frequently pops out the bra, the band is too large or the wire has been overly distressed by too small of a cup.  Typically, go up in cup size and down in band size.

To avoid underwire betrayal aka poke-outs and try to protect the longevity of your bras ….

you should never put them in a washing machine! ūüėģ

fucking-bra-racket

How many of you actually hand wash your dedicates… like your bras? :/

I have to admit, the best I do is clasp them and shove them into a mesh bag so that I can toss them in with whatever load of laundry is about to be done.

Not a good move if you’re trying to extend the life of your bras.

Did You Know That….

Bras should never be washed in¬†hot water ….

And they should never be put in a tumble dryer….

AND every time they are washed...you should stretch the wet underwire casing just after washing to avoid shrinkage??Screen Shot 2016-01-26 at 12.33.12 PM

Me neither!

I had no idea I was taking such poor care of my bras.

It made me think… am I even putting on my bra the ‘right’ way?!? ūüėģ

ThridLove published a¬†Fit Issue¬†¬†that has a few more tips for ya, if you’re interested.

What are some of YOUR bra-blems?

Share them with me and your solution (if you got any) in the Comments section below ūüôā
