It’s been 30C for the last week in Toronto… which means this dressing in light airy fabrics as much as possible.
This backless Tatyana frock did just that for me and was worn many times this summer!
It doesn’t hurt that there are orange flamingos all over a navy blue background either. 😉
As I’ve gotten older Ive noticed that being out in the sun really has a negative effect on me. So wearing hats are a must on really hot, sunny days. I picked up this wicker newsie boy cap from Public Butter for $12.
This little wicker flamingo purse had been rescued from my massive closet cleanup that seems to be never ending. How I could let such a lovely item go unused for so long, I don’t know.
Speaking of flamingos, ready for episode 3 of The Hilarious Adventures of Fil Mango?
Gawd!! I fell in love with this on the hangers at Tatyana Boutique – before they closed their Toronto location – which means up to 80% discounts on all their gorgeous frocks.
So I picked up this bad boy…and have been patiently waiting for my birthday to wear it. 🙂
Not like I ever need an excuse to treat myself to a new frock …teeheee 😛 ….
But if you’ve got a looming birthday on the horizon – that is an EXCELLENT excuse to treat = a new outfit!
At the time of purchasing this dress, I didn’t really have any plans to celebrate my birthday. All I knew was that this dress needed to be mine.
Click here for more deets of the exact moment this dress stole my heart! ❤ ❤ ❤
Just look at the fun and sassy lace embellishment around the entire neckline ….. ❤
This dress came with a sweet little deep green ribbon belt…. which I chose to wear in my hair instead of around my waist.
Now Toronto’s still pretty lucky with the weather we’ve been getting. So for true birthday purposes wearing this dress solo was perfect!!!
But with Fall officially here now, a girl’s gotta come up with ideas to keep cute + warm.
Here’s my plans for this dress into cooler temperatures….until the snow hits, that is:
This was our 4th Annual Tiki Party … with surf bands, burlesque performances, rum tastings, limbo and colourful outfits galore … we threw one hell of a party!

What I Bought
There were a number of fabulous vendors on site … which means some shopping had to be done 🙂
This adorable brooch I picked up from Cheap Thrills. I DO Love Lucy! I do! I do!!! Click here to see what I mean.
Then I met Marylou of The Bonnit … and these bad boys followed me home. Perfectly compact rain bonnets with adorable patterns on them!
And they even fit with a giant hair flower affixed to head – bonus!!! 😉
They come 2-per-pack. And soon with colour printed patterns.
Right now she’s offering FREE shipping to all over Canada. Just sayin’ ladies 😉
What I Wore
I picked-up this floral halter-neck dress last year at one of those blowout sales Tatyana Boutique was having.
Kinda loving the lime green centers on blue flowers, all over an all black background. I plan on extending the wear of this dress into the Fall with a black cardi… since it’s been waiting to be worn out for an entire year!
How beautiful is the backdrop of our Photo Booth?
I can’t even imagine how much patience and delicate scissoring it must have taken to get each of these leaves perfect.
Totally worth it tho. Just. Beautiful! ❤

Since shopping in Boston was a total bust (click here Boston trip summary) … I was dying for some much-needed retail therapy!
Lucky for me that I happened to stumble upon some crazy sales over the last few weeks here in The6ix.
Here’s my recap from those Shopping Hauls:
TATYANA BOUTIQUE
Just look at my receipt below from an unexpected shopping trip I made last week – when I got an email from Tatyana Boutique saying that it was THE LAST day to get 50% off everything in store INCLUDING already reduced items!!
What did I buy you’re wondering…?
Here’s a quick snapshot of the frocks that followed me home ….
A total of 3 Tatyana Dresses came home with me: Floral & Lace (left) $60 and the Golden Tassel (right) $17!!!!!
That gold dress doesn’t look like much on the hanger. But it’s vintage reproduction at its very best – hugging curves just right and landing at the perfect height without any alterations.
I’ve already worn it to work!
It’s not every day you find a dress with office-appropriate tassels 😉
And the 3rd dress I got was THIS one!!!! I have no idea when or where I’m gonna wear this …. but it was just magical…followed by ooo’s & ahh’s upon stepping out of the change room.
Perhaps its time I started my jazz singing career just to wear this dress nightly!!! 😉
This gown was over $200. But with this amazing sale, it came home with me for $60!!!!!
This dress has an intricate spider webbed, sexy sweetheart neckline and with a cascading waist with a bow detail in this form fitted silhouette.
A sexy v-shaped back leads to a zip closuer and ends with a striking slit up the back. And even at my petite height (when worn with heels) it’ll be floor-length fantastic!!! ❤
FOREVER21+
I try to avoid doing too much shopping at Forever21+ … for fear of looking like every other plus sized babe in the city.
But just look at these sweet colours and patterns!!! YUP! They needed to be mine!
Foxes on a simple sleeved, belted swing dress! $33
A semi-sheer maxi dress featuring an all over floral print, a buttoned front, a V-neckline, an elasticized waist, and 3/4 sleeves with buttoned cuffs. $33
Stay tuned to the blog for specific outfit posts styling each of these ones soon! 😉
PENNINGTON’S
OH MAN!!! I’ve been ranting about bra’s and bra-blems for a few posts on the blog. With the CAD$ being in the can…it has been preventing me from cross-boarder shopping for over-the-shoulder-boulder-holders.
Being a busty gal…finding my cup size here in Toronto just isn’t affordable.
But then … Penningtons had a crazy, stupid sale…making ALL THAT YOU SEE HERE $22 each!!! Unheard of price for ladies of the big titty committee..right?
Now, although this retail claims to have G & H cup sizes, they rarely seem to have them when I’m shopping. Seems they are super popular and sell out immediately. Sigh..
I managed to find sister sizes (i.e. 44DDDDDD … LOL! you get what I mean) to help compensate for band:cup difference. At this price point…I was determine to make them work!!! 🙂
Oh, I picked up 2 sweet nightys too…for $15 each!
STREET VENDORS & OUTDOOR MARKETS
Summer brings with it the many outdoor festivals, markets and other fun where vendors are selling their wears street-side. And fantastic deals and finds can be found!!!
I’m all about the hats in the summer… sun protection is very important … especially for keeping the once face sun-spot free 😉
Hats! Hats! Hats! Sold at Kensington Market.
Of all the many hats I own, I didn’t have a simple black and white one. So when I found this adorable side-bow-button detail on this one….it had to be mine.
$10 – and basically goes with everything! Whoop! Whoop!
There you have it friends! You’ve gotten the inside scoop on all the newest pieces in my closet.
Were you able to take advantage of any of these deals yourselves?

Toronto finally had amazing weather this past weekend. Which makes what I’m about to announce even more timely!!! 😉
Petite Plus, Meow! is proudly bringing you another special Double Featurewith fellow petite plus blogger, Cassie from Style Cassentials.
Together, we will be exploring and putting our own twists on several Spring trends…all this week!
Today we’re talking about Doing White Right.

This enchanting Tatyana Boutique Flower Cart dress is adorable … and restocked for this season …just sayin’ 😉
I picked it up during their blow-out sale this past Fall….and have been waiting patiently for warmer months arrival to finally take this faboulousness out to be seen. It’s made from a supple cotton blend in a clean white with pops of vivacious green trim at the arms, with red shoulder straps…
And just look that the cutest flower cart hem detail of the skirt. ❤ ❤ ❤
How I Got The Look: Dress from Tatyana; Sunnies and Purse are vintage finds; Heels from Aldo; Sneakers are Keds
What I really loved about this dress is the scalloped off-the-shoulder design!!! ❤
The adjustable straps and a fitted bodice that’s darted through the natural waist adds some visual interest too.
The dress came with a skinny yellow belt to help highlight an hourglass figure and helps break-up all the whiteness of this frock.
Sadly, if you’re a top-heavy/chesty/a member of the big-titty-committee this skinny belt might get a bit lost. 😛
Note To Self: must buy thicker yellow belt.
This voluminous gathered A-line swing skirt has hidden side pockets (#winning) and goes perfectly with heels OR casual Keds.
The perfect for Springtime and ready for Summertime too!

Cassie is Doing White Right with this adorable collared shirt dress and white pumps! Loving the black buttons down the front of the dress.
And that telephone clutch with fur pop-pop. **swoon**

We had lovely weather in Toronto this weekend (yay!) … sooooooooo I needed to bust out this cheery springtime perfect number for Easter Sunday, as I spent it out-and-about with family and friends.
Here’s my Easter look: Yes, Yes they are. There are little Russian Nesting Dolls on my eff’ing dress!!! 😮
The Cutest right?!? ❤
I picked this up during Tatyana’s crazy-bananas-sale this past Fall…and now that the weather is finally cooperating, I’m thrilled to be able to wear this more. It’s a cotton, scoop neck spaghetti strap circle dress. Unlined. Which makes it super comfy for all day wear and impromptu dancing 🙂
This dress was MADE for a crinoline … but for everyday wear, that’s wayyyy too much trouble.
Truth be told, it’s a size bigger than I need. 😦 And as tightly as a make the straps they always fall down. Buuuut it was an amazing deal and it needed to be mine!
Oh, I also shorted the hem line a bit to better suit my petite height.
Love the dress? Want the dress? Well, its back in stock for THIS season…just sayin’ 😉
How I Got The Look: Pale pink cropped sweater, Old Navy; Dress, Tatayana Boutique; Jean sneaks, Roxxy; Cat-eyed sunnies, Ardene
If you follow the blog religiously, then you might remember this frock making its debut appearance in my November to Remember post…take a peek now if you like.
Happy Easter everyone! Hope you had a lovely weekend however you spent it.
And remember….all this week there will be discounted chocolate everywhere….get yourself some! 😉
The last day of February, already ….. oh, it’s A Leap Year!
Let’s recap the fun-filled adventures that took place in the Life and Times of Moi this past month….
What I Did, What I Wore, and What I Cooked 🙂
Cabin Fever – Winter Edition
Over Valentine’s/Family Day long weekend, me and some lindyhopping friends made the long drive out to Algonquin Park to Wolf Den Lodge for a Winter Cabin Adventure!!!
It was THE COLDEST WEEKEND of the year. -38C degrees …so cold your nose hairs froze and your glasses not just fogged over, but frosted over instantly!!!
In-between communal cooking, snowy hiking, colouring and games, dancing and singing. There. Was. Drinking. 😮
Scotch vs. Bourbon vs. Rye? Do you know the difference? Neither did I. Find out more here. **hiccup**
I needed to get myself some proper waterproof winter boots and snow pants for the trip!
With end of season sales everywhere, finding boots wasn’t too difficult. I bought these Sorrel’s online – had them delivered right to my door.
Boots were easy to find…and on super sale with the winter season coming to an end. These grey-blue fur-trimmed Sorrel’s were $85
Finding plus size snow pants was a bit more of a challenge. But those Facebook Groups for plus size sales & swaps helped me find these waterproof omni-heat bad boys from Columbia.
Sadly, I didn’t end up taking too many photos this weekend – but did manage to capture these few…of winter-cottage outdoor glory!
Fashion in February
Bah! So I admit, I haven’t been very good about photographing my outfits and making them into blogposts for you.
But if you’re following my Instagram Channel – then you’ll be able to see my Outfits of the Day as they happen.
Here’s a few quick snaps of some of the looks I rocked over the month.
Ok!!! This Cognac brown “Indiana Jones” vibe hat was a whopping $5 buy (Reitmans)!!! Paired with brown booties and a new cross-body hassle purse (The Shoe Company). Bird dress was custom for moi in Vietnam, grey leggings from Old Navy and the long white sweater, is also from Reitmans.
OK! Remember when I was trying to get to University’s Alumni Day this past Fall? And how I never made it cuz there was a crazy, bonkers, blow-out sale at Tatyanna Boutique on WQW? Well…that’s where I picked up with ruffley, frilly frock for only $8!!! Yup!!! $8!!! You can’t even buy the material for that price! I added a touch of turquoise with the skinny belt and drop earrings…to pull out the colours from the polka-dots. I unveiled this outfit at February’s Vintage Spectacular Dance at The Great Hall to see the GTA Swing Band for a night of dancing with LindyHop Revolution ❤
OK!! I finally got myself some “Cold Shoulder” action when I found this dress at Forever 21+. Got me looking like a 90s Fly Girl from In Living Colour… for a night of ‘clubbing’. Turns out, I am NOT a clubbing-type-girl. Ew.
February Recipe: Spaghetti Squash
Ok! I just recently discovered this vegetable… and it has quickly become a new favourite!!! Spaghetti Squash might be the easiest thing to cook, and just one will yield a ton of food!
THIS is a spaghetti squash
Spaghetti squash can be baked, boiled, steamed, and/or microwaved. It can be served with or without sauce, as a substitute for pasta. And the seeds can be roasted, similar to pumpkin seeds.
Here’s how I cooked it….
STEP 1: Cut the sucker in half. Scrap out all the seeds and guts…just like you would a pumpkin.
STEP 2: Salt n’ Pepper to taste, and pop half of it into the microwave on High for 11-minutes. Then let it sit and cool for about 3-5-mins until you can handle it.
STEP 3: Use a fork and scrape away!!! ….ooo look at those pretty strands. ❤
That’s basically it! You can totally dig in and get to eating 🙂
But if you wanna get a bit fancier…. you can sauté some onions, garlic, parsley, chilli flakes, etc. in a bit of butter….
STEP 4: Getting Fancy… sauté up some onions, garlic, chilli flakes in butter…and add some protein even (like shrimp, tuna, leftover anything)
VOILA!!! Fancy sautéed Spaghetti Squash with Shrimp
Waddya think of this recipe? Think you’re gonna try it out yourself? Super easy right! 🙂
I cooked up the other half of the spaghetti squash and served it up with some left over salmon from early that week (see image below) – just as delicious!
Soooo has Cupid’s arrow struck you this year? Are you gearing up for a big romantic Valentine’s Day with your beau?
Or rounding up your squad for a fabulous Galentine’s together?
Regardless of what you’re up to this weekend-o-love, you will surely need a fabulous outfit! 😉
So that’s what this post is dedicated to: Valentine’s Day Outfit Inspirations!!!
I’ve come up with 3 different looks, pulling items (both old and newish) from my closet to come up with looks that could take you from romantic reservations, to a mystery date out n’ about, or to a no-boys-allowed party! ❤
1. Lady in Red
You can’t really go wrong with wearing Red for Valentine’s Day!
I picked up this great “perfect red” dress during a Black Friday Sale from Kiyonna …. the sheer sleeves, scooped neckline and perfect length made this a must buy.
Outfit Deets: Mohair purse, NineWest; Shoes, Christian S. for Payless; Earrings and necklace, Reitmans; Dress from Kiyonna
Alternatively, if you wanted a more romantic Lady-in-Red vibe maybe ditch the flats for leopard pumps and add a fur collar…and BOOM!
If you’re looking to keep it more casual and cozy, why not pull out your favourite dress like this hot pinky/fuchsia number I picked up from the opening of AdditionElle’s Stockyard location, and pair it with a fuzzy sweater!
Add some bling and pumps and …. Boom! Instant Valentine’s Day magic! ❤
Oooo I’m digging this combo of colours and textures and hardware with the jewels!!! ❤ ❤ ❤
You likee? 🙂
3. Rockabilly Pink
If you want to go all-out girly girl, a flirty-ruffle-y- skirt is the way to go!
Now, I personally never got onto the tutu-skirt trend that seemed to be everywhere for the last little while in plus size fashion.
But this full circle skirt from Tatyana Boutique has an overlay of tulle, which kinda gives you a tutu-vibe. Plus the bold gold flower details on the overlay certainly adds that romantic, flirty, girlie-girl outfit feeling.
Outfit Deets: Blouse & Skirt, Tatyana Boutique; Shoes, Naturalizer; Purse, Kate Spade; Jewellery set (old)
Since the skirt has a lot of drama, I tried to keep the rest of the look simple with blacks and whites.
I was bold with mixing patterns here – stripes and dots – but since they’re all black and white colours, they seem to work nicely, don’t you think? 🙂
This collared tie-up polka-dotted blouse with this peachy pink jewellery set in gold totally compliments the skirt and its details.
I think this set is kind of perfect for this outfit. ❤
So there you have it friends!!! 3 very different Valentine’s inspired outfits that I’m hoping will help you create the best look for your special evening.
Which is YOUR favourite – 1, 2 or 3 … and why? Tell me about your choice in the comments section below!
Hoping that these outfit inspirations earn you a few smooches this Valentine’s Weekend friends, xo 😉
Ever been curious about why kissing is so craved and important? Me too! Find out more about the Science of Kissing here.
Hope you rung in 2016 with love in your heart and a smile on your face. 🙂
I’ve been a social butterfly all December long, and for NYE I spent it cozy with my bae Netflix – for a quite me, myself and Irene evening.
❤ ❤ ❤ It. Was. Glorious. ❤ ❤ ❤
As for resolutions … this basically sums it up for me:
I started this fashion & lifestyle blog as a fun outlet to share the things I liked. Over the past two years, the blog’s focus has moved more and more into an “online journal of the life and times of moi” – showcasing What I DID and What I Wore!
Having just celebrated the blog’s 2nd anniversary (yay!) … there are a number of things I want to start introducing into blog content in 2016, I will definitely continue with many more of WID and WIW type-posts in the upcoming year. 😉
There have been some fun, new, winterized outfits in the first 10-days of January, and if you’re following my Instagram channel you’ve caught a glimpse of them.
But for now, let’s take a look back to my favourite looks on the blog from the LAST YEAR!
Poodle Skirt Perfection – You know how much I love the retro 1950’s look? I had the perfect opportunity to finally wear it … to the opening of Bean and Baker Malt Shop this summer.
2. Sea-side Sun Dress – This was a cheap buy from Old Navy and worn many times from spring through summer. Special thanks to Rebecca Northcott Photography for the photoshoot.
3. Picnic Parasol – This green checked dress was custom-made for moi in Vietnam when I visited in March. It was the perfect outfit for the annual Toronto Vintage Society Picnic.
4. Florals & Stripes – Mixing patterns more bravely was something I did a lot of this past year. THIS was one of my favourite combos from Spring.
5. Hibiscus Wrap Pants – Travelling was a major focus for me last year…and these fab wrap pants were a fashion find in my exploration of Asia – KL, Malaysia to be exact.
6. Peek-a-boo Pencil Pin-up – Found this curve hugging pin-up frock for $15 at one of Tatyana’s super-duper sale events. It was perfect for the White Kitschmas themed TVS Holiday Celebration.
7. FATkini – In the 30-something year’s of my life, 2015 was the year I embraced my bod, buddha belly, thick thighs and all, and wore a bikini bathing suit!!! It was the “most liked” photo on my Instagram and even the lovely GabiFresh commented on it!!!
8. Hello, Yellow – Ah, yes…this yellow skirt ❤ Another custom creation from my travels to Asia – Hoi An, Vietnam. It’s been styled many different ways all last year…and even helped me create a Snow White Lindy Hop Halloween look. Love. This. Skirt.
There you have it! My Favourite Looksfrom the past year. Which is your favourite? Tell me in the comments section. 🙂
And stay tuned for new blog content all year long!
