It’s been 30C for the last week in Toronto… which means this dressing in light airy fabrics as much as possible.
This backless Tatyana frock did just that for me and was worn many times this summer!
It doesn’t hurt that there are orange flamingos all over a navy blue background either. 😉
As I’ve gotten older Ive noticed that being out in the sun really has a negative effect on me. So wearing hats are a must on really hot, sunny days. I picked up this wicker newsie boy cap from Public Butter for $12.
This little wicker flamingo purse had been rescued from my massive closet cleanup that seems to be never ending. How I could let such a lovely item go unused for so long, I don’t know.

I recently hit The Duffrin Mall for a much-needed eyebrow clean up appointment…and somehow this lovely frock followed me home 🙂
I’ve noticed that the styles of Forever21+ online are very different from what they’ve got in the store. So, I was pleasantly surprised when I found this one.  (PS:  Great plus size selection at the Duffrin Mall location by the way ;))
Since it’s been a wintery-like Spring for much of this month, I paired it with a long-sleeved cardi with diamond-like sparkle buttons (Mark’s Work Wearhouse)
Hot Pink Shortie Cardi
Oook! Â Remember my tailor-made-just-for-me Birdy Dress from Vietnam? Â Well, I took it to the office by wearing this hot pink shortie cardi overtop (Old Navy) and this bright printed circle scarf (Ardene) to keep the cleavage work appropriate.

I picked up this amazing green Fanny Midi Skirt from Tatyana Boutique last fall during their BOGO event.  Happy to note it’s still currently available here.
It is a pricey piece…so I’m thrilled to be able to make it work for springtime too!
I wore it last weekend to a fun Rockabilly Brunch in my hood, with a long-sleeve laced shoulder shirt from Forever21+ that I picked up ages ago, and the striped purse is Kate Spade (click here for more purse).

I dunno about you friends, but January is officially Little Black Dress month for me. Â There has been WAYYY too much eating over the festive season … and this holiday weight is making me choose blacks over other fun colours in my wardrobe these days.
Lucky for me, I’ve got a lil’ Collection of LBDs that don’t nearly get enough of my attention all year round.  So why not use this month to let them shine 🙂
LBD #1: Â Forever21+Â
Truth be told, I bought this dress as a Halloween Costume one year, when a girlfriend and I dressed as Robert Palmer girls.  The best (and easiest) costume to pull off I tell ya.
What sold me about this dress was the different textures of fabric used. Â The top is this shiny poly-blend with a sweet little twist to the neckline which leads to off the shoulder sleeves, and the skirt portion is a ribbed cotton.
There is beauty in simplicity.  I tried sticking to a head-to-to black … keeping the hose and heels black too.  But in the end, I needed more — and that’s when this red blazer just kicked it up a notch.This giant pearl necklace is my absolute favourite (Your Big Sister’s Closet) – it just adds the perfect punch of sophistication to this entire outfit.

There is A LOT of sequins in holiday wear this year.  Don’t get me wrong…I love me some sequins!!! But everyone else is gonna be wearing it right now, and I would rather do something different this time around.

I found this peplum dress last year from AdditionElle and have come up with many uses for it, like say THE South Asian Princess Leia…. click here to see what I mean 😉
There is just something about wearing crisp winter whites that really steps up the glamour of an outfit. I wanted to use the ‘sparkle and shine’ factor sparingly for this holiday look.
This amazing sliver-gold-jewelled belt was found in a lovely boutique on West Queen West called Fashion Crimes (NOTE: this shop has recently closed it’s doors and will be reopening as a bespoke boutique elsewhere in Toronto in 2015).
I matched it up with this jewelled bracelet (Aldo Accessories) and gold drop earrings (Your Big Sister’s Closet) to jazz up this holiday outfit.  And lastly, I decided to keep the heels a simple nude pump (Payless), to not distract from the rest of the look.

How I Got The Look:Â I’ve had this Dorothy Perkins mini dress for a while now – Â I don’t often wear it on its own as it’s uber short and clingy. Â I typically wear it as a top to show off the amazing shoulder pleats of this dress. Â But this Christmas red dress paired with this “ugly” holiday sweater, over-the-knee boots (AdditionElle)Â and sheer black hosiery just seems to work, don’t you think?
Now, for the office party this week — I’m gonna swap the sheer hose for thick black leggings. Â Ideally, I’d like to wear it with my plaid leggings to add more length to this skirt…if I can find them :).
So, waddya think of this “Ugly” Christmas Sweater look? I DARE you to call it “ugly”…...I DOUBLE-DOG-DARE YA!!!!  😉  Classic line from my fav holiday movie A Christmas Story AND I’ve got double dogs on this sweater… I’m freakin’ hilarious!!!

Last month I ran a special 7-day long Fall Double Feature collaboration series with Style Cassentials, where we explored and put our own twists on upcoming trends for Fall.
One of the big trends this season is being Mad for Plaid! Today I’m taking a more playful approach to plaid 🙂
There has been a sudden spike in Toronto temperatures lately, Â which means getting into full on Fall garb on 20+ degree days, just doesn’t make sense. Â So for today’s outfit of the day I decided to wear a sheer plaid shirt, with leggings for an easy, casual look.
Typically early mornings and evenings tend to be cooler – quick.  So in an effort to combat the sudden dips in temps … this light jean jacket and wooly wonderful-ness of this infinity scarf are perfect solutions! 🙂

As summer winds down, retailers have enticing sale signs in their windows….and for an addict like me, it is VERY difficult to walk by without shopping.  But I’m doing my best to create my outfits of the day from the items that hang proudly in my closet that deserve my love and attention 🙂
I threw this look together today – keeping things simple for lunching with a gf + her baby, followed by lindy hop lessons in the evening (minus the sandals for that).
I picked up this sheer bird top during the Spring from Reitmans, from their regular section (it’s an XXL). Â The berry bandage skirt is from Forever21+ and was cheap-cheap-cheap ($6). Â The blue sandals were picked up earlier this year on a cross boarder shopping extravaganza.
The only ‘newness’ is the Zebra clutch – what I love about it: large enough to hold my laptop, while still looking oh-so chic!How I Got The Look:

I wrote this a while a go — and seeing the remaining ‘summer day’ left in Toronto are ones that require sweaters and closed-toed shoes, this post needed to be shared sooner than later.

The trickiest part to summer (I think) is figuring out what to wear to the office that’s professional, while keeping you cool and comfortable in the heat of summer days. Â Here’s a quick outfit of the day that got lost on my iPhone – pardon the sleepy expression – early morning sun and posing on my balcony clearly don’t mix:

I’ve owned these pieces for many moons…but have never paired them together, nor have I ever thought of creating an ‘office outfit’ with them.
How I Got The Look:
black peep-toed flats (Payless) Â these have become a fabulous ‘commuter’ shoe to get from home to office via TTC (usually with heels in my purse)
The white jacket (DressBarn) is super light and meant for summer wear, I think it was meant to be 3/4 length-sleeves…buuuut being petite it basically looks full-length on moi
Baby blue blouse (Forever21+) super light and airy fabric … I especially like the single pocket detail of this tank
Tribal drawstring pant (Reitmans) possibly the most comfortable pants I own.  For the most part, these days, especially in summer  (I’m a dresses & skirts kinda gal), but these pants are so light that I often find myself double-checking to make sure I’m wear bottoms at all when in these pants. 🙂
5p to 9p…..remove jacket head to nearest patio pub with co-workers & friends!

It was a gloomy partly cloudy day in Toronto … and surprisingly chilly for a July day.
With an afternoon full of meetings in the downtown core (yuck), my mood needed some lifting. Â So I decided that my outfit needed to be bright, loud and fresh.
Here’s what I came up with:
I’ve been searching for “the perfect yellow” – very difficult to find. Â Found this lovely light-weight sweater in the clearance rack ($14) at Reitmans in The Duffrin Mall the other day, figured I’d be saving it for the Fall, but today was just cool enough to unveil it.
My favourite parts of this outfit are the shoes and purse!!!  Picked up both pieces LAST summer…..when I was totally obsessing over this amazing turquoise colour.  Even my earrings match in this outfit.  Aren’t these shoes just fantastic!!!!  Gawd! I love them! 🙂
So….Waddya think?
