Bah! Toronto weather can’t seem to make up its mind.
Luckily this past long weekend was glorious sunny, warm weather with cool, comfortable evening temps too!

I’m a simple girl, with simple needs. So finding outfits that are wash-n-wear and don’t require too much planning to look polished are for me. 😉
This is why this thin tank strapped dress I picked up from Old Navy has become my go-to frock this past month.
When I found this scarf, I really liked the geometric pattern in simple black and white.
But…. It was way more than just a scarf. It was a bolero type cover up!!!
How perfect for keeping on hand in a purse for those chilly spring & summer nights to come.
Looking at this dress online didn’t really do it justice. A simple scoop neck with decorative four-button buttons, and thin tank straps (that are adjustable).
But if you look closer….. the simple-ness is a big contrast to the cutwork detail at the flouncy hem of this lightly lined dress.

Toronto finally had amazing weather this past weekend. Which makes what I’m about to announce even more timely!!! 😉
Petite Plus, Meow! is proudly bringing you another special Double Featurewith fellow petite plus blogger, Cassie from Style Cassentials.
Together, we will be exploring and putting our own twists on several Spring trends…all this week!
Today we’re talking about Doing White Right.

This enchanting Tatyana Boutique Flower Cart dress is adorable … and restocked for this season …just sayin’ 😉
I picked it up during their blow-out sale this past Fall….and have been waiting patiently for warmer months arrival to finally take this faboulousness out to be seen. It’s made from a supple cotton blend in a clean white with pops of vivacious green trim at the arms, with red shoulder straps…
And just look that the cutest flower cart hem detail of the skirt. ❤ ❤ ❤
How I Got The Look: Dress from Tatyana; Sunnies and Purse are vintage finds; Heels from Aldo; Sneakers are Keds
What I really loved about this dress is the scalloped off-the-shoulder design!!! ❤
The adjustable straps and a fitted bodice that’s darted through the natural waist adds some visual interest too.
The dress came with a skinny yellow belt to help highlight an hourglass figure and helps break-up all the whiteness of this frock.
Sadly, if you’re a top-heavy/chesty/a member of the big-titty-committee this skinny belt might get a bit lost. 😛
Note To Self: must buy thicker yellow belt.
This voluminous gathered A-line swing skirt has hidden side pockets (#winning) and goes perfectly with heels OR casual Keds.
The perfect for Springtime and ready for Summertime too!

Cassie is Doing White Right with this adorable collared shirt dress and white pumps! Loving the black buttons down the front of the dress.
And that telephone clutch with fur pop-pop. **swoon**

This high waist circle skirt featuring a fan design on green fabric with pockets and pleating detail around the waist is what continues to make this skirt one of my beloved pieces of my closet ❤ ❤ ❤
It was a pricey piece…so I’m thrilled to be able to make it work for springtime too!

How I Got The Look: Checkered shirt, H&M+; Fanny skirt, Tatyana Boutique; Purse, Aldo Accessories; Glossy pumps, Payless Shoes; Bracelets and necklaces are super old
No matter what the season, it seems you can’t really got wrong with a checkered shirt. I found this one at H&M+ … anything black n’ white makes it really easy to pattern mix with.

Ha! I think I was trying to Lindyhop on carpet for this shot. Leave it to the artsy eye of Rebecca Northcott to capture the silly moment perfectly. xo

Hope you rung in 2016 with love in your heart and a smile on your face. 🙂
I’ve been a social butterfly all December long, and for NYE I spent it cozy with my bae Netflix – for a quite me, myself and Irene evening.
❤ ❤ ❤ It. Was. Glorious. ❤ ❤ ❤
As for resolutions … this basically sums it up for me:
I started this fashion & lifestyle blog as a fun outlet to share the things I liked. Over the past two years, the blog’s focus has moved more and more into an “online journal of the life and times of moi” – showcasing What I DID and What I Wore!
Having just celebrated the blog’s 2nd anniversary (yay!) … there are a number of things I want to start introducing into blog content in 2016, I will definitely continue with many more of WID and WIW type-posts in the upcoming year. 😉
There have been some fun, new, winterized outfits in the first 10-days of January, and if you’re following my Instagram channel you’ve caught a glimpse of them.
But for now, let’s take a look back to my favourite looks on the blog from the LAST YEAR!
Poodle Skirt Perfection – You know how much I love the retro 1950’s look? I had the perfect opportunity to finally wear it … to the opening of Bean and Baker Malt Shop this summer.
2. Sea-side Sun Dress – This was a cheap buy from Old Navy and worn many times from spring through summer. Special thanks to Rebecca Northcott Photography for the photoshoot.
3. Picnic Parasol – This green checked dress was custom-made for moi in Vietnam when I visited in March. It was the perfect outfit for the annual Toronto Vintage Society Picnic.
4. Florals & Stripes – Mixing patterns more bravely was something I did a lot of this past year. THIS was one of my favourite combos from Spring.
5. Hibiscus Wrap Pants – Travelling was a major focus for me last year…and these fab wrap pants were a fashion find in my exploration of Asia – KL, Malaysia to be exact.
6. Peek-a-boo Pencil Pin-up – Found this curve hugging pin-up frock for $15 at one of Tatyana’s super-duper sale events. It was perfect for the White Kitschmas themed TVS Holiday Celebration.
7. FATkini – In the 30-something year’s of my life, 2015 was the year I embraced my bod, buddha belly, thick thighs and all, and wore a bikini bathing suit!!! It was the “most liked” photo on my Instagram and even the lovely GabiFresh commented on it!!!
8. Hello, Yellow – Ah, yes…this yellow skirt ❤ Another custom creation from my travels to Asia – Hoi An, Vietnam. It’s been styled many different ways all last year…and even helped me create a Snow White Lindy Hop Halloween look. Love. This. Skirt.
There you have it! My Favourite Looksfrom the past year. Which is your favourite? Tell me in the comments section. 🙂
And stay tuned for new blog content all year long!

Whether you need a special dress for a cocktail function, be a fabulous guest at a wedding or just want that va-va-voom dress for a special night, Kiyonna will have a dress for you.
This purple Valentina Dress is kinda perfect for making that special someone swoon on Valentines Day. It comes black, white, mauve, navy and burgundy (which I have also) 🙂

No matter your shape, the contrasting side lace panels will give you a knockout hourglass silhouette. The silky stretch fabric on the front of the dress elegantly flatters your curves while the ruching in the mid-section masks any tummy troubles.
It’s a fantastic dress!
Kyionna has so many lovely black lace dress options that make every body type look and feel sensational!
Rebecca and I are both wearing dresses from Kiyonna — This line seems to have a ton of lace offerings to the plus population…and their sizing is nearly perfect for those in the petite category when it comes to arm & shoulder lengths too!

In my short time blogging I’ve been very fortunate to have met some fantastic, inspiring new people. People who truly encourage and support the endeavours of bloggers within the plus size community, who operate with the true spirit of collaboration. Stefanie Augusteijn, Owner of SexyPlus Clothing embodies all of this – she talks the talk, and walks the walk. Earlier this week she threw a soiree… a Blogger Exclusive …to preview the fabulous Fall fashions her lovely boutique has to offer.
Dresses! Jackets! Boots! Jewellery! Wine and Cake!
Best. Wednesday Night. Ever!!!!
Ok let me introduce you to all who were in attendance —
CakeStar cake covered in social media – perfect for this Blogger Event!
We were lucky to have the creative, photographic talents of Rebecca Northcott, Rebecca Northcott Photography on hand to capture all the moments of the event. I’ve peppered my blogpost with a few of my favourites 🙂
Naturally, I HAD to try on a few items of course…. any of these strike YOUR fancy for Fall friends? Special shoutouts to go the lovely shop-girls, McKina and Sabrina who were uber attentive and helpful, providing honest opinions and encouragement once you’re ready to emerge from the change rooms.
Fall fashions from Joseph RibkoffFall fashions from Joseph RibkoffI LOVED this Joseph Ribkoff jacket … as you can tell by the way I stepped out of the change room 🙂Fall fashions from Joseph RibkoffI really loved this top….made in Canada by ArtexThis gorgeous Joseph Ribkoff black n’ leather fit me more like a dress than it did a jacket … ah yes, the pleasures of being petite.
Overall, it was a fantastic night. Or in the words of Miss Stefanie:
It was a girl-power-curvy-positive-collaborative-fashion-princess-empowering-sizesexy kind of night.
Too funny…..us being drama queens … “It’s Too Hot!”
So … the big question – what did I go home with? 🙂
1. A gorgeous statement necklace by Victorious Me, a Toronto-based retailer
2. A long slit dress, custom made for SexyPlus Clothing by Ralph C also made in Canada – $99…reduced to $25!!!! Crazytown score – hooray for me!
3. The newsprint dress: made in Canada by Artex, called the Jax dress, new Fall arrival priced at $89 — a steal and a half!!!
I even got my very own MEME out of the night … words to live by, I think 😉
So, waddya think of my Fall haul? See anything you like from SexyPlus Clothing‘s Fall Arrivals?

Toronto kick’s off their Summerlicious season!!! Which means this petite plus diva gets to get dolled up to discover and experience the diverse cuisine this city has to offer at exceptional value!!! For two mouth-watering weeks in July, foodies savour delicious three-course prix fixe lunch and dinner menus at more than 200 of the city’s top restaurants.
Last Night a gf and I tried out CHURCH APERITIVO BAR. Located in an old church at Queen and Dovercourt….this spot’s speciality is Italian cuisine. The food was delish with very generous portions. The meatballs were just like my ex’s Nona used to make (once you added some of their chili-flake sauce). There’s a built-in 18% gratuity, and the paired wine with the menu turned out to be $15 PER GLASS. A little outrageous, I think, but waddya gonna do once your belly is full and the bill comes. Sadly, I failed to take any photos of my food … which is very unusual for me… guess we were more hungry than we thought. 🙂
Here’s what I wore:
Does this dress look familiar? That’s cuz … it was one of the dresses I wore for the collaboration photo shoot entitled“IS IT SPRING YET?”with Rebecca Northcott Photography and Your Big Sister’s Closet this past Spring.
I fell in love with this dress immediately! So much so that I had to buy it BEFORE we even got to the location for the photoshoot 🙂
If you look closely at the photo shoot pictures you’ll see my bra strap is showing … sigh. At the time I didn’t have one that was suitable of the way the back of this dress is cut. Buuuuuuut in the newer pictures from this post – this has been corrected with Cacique’s Lace Racerback Bra!!
For dinner, I’ve styled it casually with minimal jewellery, make up and accessories, in order to let the fantastic pattern & colours of this dress really shine.
Black suede platform sandals (Nine West) give me the height needed to wear this lovely maxi dress without any alterations!
Short Diva Trick – I tied a wee knot in the bottom of my dress so that I don’t trip over the length whist indoors without those sky-high platform sandals.
It was a bit on the cooler side that night – with temperatures threatening to dip into high teens tonight (+18) … so keeping that in mind, I paired this gorgeous maxi with an open black 3/4 sleeved cardi (Reitmans). In an effort to keep it ‘summertime fun’, I tied it in front rather than keeping it open so that the lovely paisley pattern doesn’t get hidden. 🙂
How I Got The Look:
Black & paisley maxi dress from Your Big Sister’s Closet (click here to see the photoshoot I did for them that prompted me to buy this dress)
Sandals from Nine West Outlet (click here to see my cross-boarder shopping haul post)
Black open cardi, Reitmans; Silver teardrop earrings, Payless; Black clutch wallet, Ardene

I’m a huge line-dancing fan! Unfortunately there aren’t many places within Toronto that have line-dancing regularly or at all…which meant I’d have to wrangle like-minded folk and travel out to Oshawa or Georgetown (total opposite ends of the city via GO Train. And upon finally getting there, cowboy hat, boots and all, I’m typically I’m the ONLY brown face on the dance floor.
Sigh…But that has all changed friends as Toronto has opened two new watering holes specifically for country-line-dancin’-lovin’-cowpokes like moi!
Rock ‘N’ Horse Saloon (formerly London Tap House, right in the heart of the Entertainment Dist) and Boots ‘N’ Bourbon (on Queen St. East) … both I’m told have fab food, drink specials, often live music for line-dancing and best of all a mechanical bull!
Here’s the outfit I’ve lined up to wear…to Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy…Giddy Up!
Sunday nights at Boots n’ Bourbon Toronto’s Country Music Line Dancing hosts beginner lessons at 7pm. Jeff is the patient and handsome instructor who took us through a variety of dances to make us look good on the dance floor …which works out perfectly for us to bust out our newly learnt moves once the live band gets on stage for the rest of the evening! Plus, half priced appetizers and drink specials don’t hurt either 🙂
There were a bunch of names for the dances learnt that night — super fun and easy to do, with a bit o practice. Here are few clips of the ones I remembered the names of – in case you’re looking to get a your country line dancing on in your living rooms:
