Last week we focused on office appropriate looks on the blog. So, this week I thought we should focus on creating more casual looks instead!
As you know – I’m a minimal makeup kinda girl who hates brushing her hair. Check out how purrrfect my Swarovski PAW jewellery looks…just enough casual bling 😉
Truth be told, I have a much easier time dressing up than I do dressing down. Maybe because I work from home mostly, anytime I have an excuse to leave the house, I wanna get all dolled up rather than dressed down.
So dedicating this week to more Casual Looks is a good challenge for me 🙂
I’ve always shied away from these puffer vests – adding more “poof” to the top half of me just wasn’t cute. But then I came across this quilted vest at Old Navy (on sale for $15!) and it won me over! I think it worked out well with this denim & plaid combo for Fall. (For other plaid looks click here, here and here.)
I put this outfit together for an afternoon of mall-window-shopping. 😉 They are kind of perfect for the weather we’ve been having in Toronto lately too.
Waddya think…you likee?
How I Got The Look: Plaid leggings from Ardene; Hunter green quilted vest & Denim long-sleeved shirt from Old Navy; Brown suede booties from Reitmans; Grey cross body purse from Michael Kors;Swarosvski PAWS Jewellery from MyBeaded Designs
I LOVE PINK! I’d wear it head-to-toe everyday if I could! 😛
So when I found this delightful acid pink dress among the rather drab colour pallets of 2014’s Fall Fashions at AdditionElle last month at the Stockyards Grand Opening – I was over the moon with excitement! At the time of taking these photos, the weather did not require hosiery. So I matched up this dress with my NineWest purple leopard peep-toed pumps.
But for Fall/Winter, I totally plan on paring this look with booties and dark tights. I was recently sent some hosiery from Sonsee – these would be perfect for taking this look into the winter months. Unlike shape-wear – Sonsee is both comfortable & smoothing with broad ranges in sizing, products and seasonal colours. Stay tuned for that product review on the blog soon friends 😉
Since this dress is relatively plain, I thought I’d step up the dazzle-factor with giant jewellery!
This gorgeous statement necklace by Victorious Me, I picked up at SexyPlus Clothing’s Blogger Fall Preview …. I managed to find a perfectly matching set of earrings cheaply from Ardene. I unveiled this frock at the Damzel’s 20th Anniversary Gala – adding some vintage effort to my hair and created a mini-bumper-bang (click here for the vid that helped me create it). Along with my Torrid gold studded black suede sling-backs and my fantastic black petit point 1960s purse (fromThe Vintage Domain).
You can really notice my sun-tanned face when you compare the pics from the event to the ones taken by LawrenceKerrPhotography…. stay tuned for a vacation recap post coming soon friends 😉

Remember when I was torn on wether I should buy this wool + leather jacket from Retmains a little while back (please ignore the floral leggings and laundry basket in the background)?
Well, your Facebook feedback helped me make the right decision I think —- just look at how great it is with this acid pink frock!
Thanks for the good advice friends!!! 😉

Ok folks ….. This week we say farewell to summer and officially move into FALL!
Today, I’m excited to start a new Fall series. This “double feature” is a collaboration with fellow petite plus blogger, Cassie from Style Cassentials.
Cassie describes her style as modern classics with a little dark or edgy glamour. I prefer classic, feminine, and sophisticated pieces. Together, we will be exploring and putting our own twists on several fall trends…all week long!
Today, we are talking LEATHER!
There is just something so sexy and simple about black leather. For me I like mixing leather on leather it with lighter, sheer fabrics to give the look a more feminine and sophisticated vibe.
Stepping into the blue with my silver toed blue pumps, from Reitmans. I’m really feeling the cobalt cool hues for Fall too. I think incorporating pops of this hit of colour via accessories, purses and shoes are a good move over the next few months 🙂
How I Got The Look:
Sheer floral top from Macey’s; leather calf leggings from Forever21+; Leather & suede jacket from Sears; black studded clutch from Ardene; silver toed blue pumps from Reitmans

Cassie is rocking a fit-and-flare leather skirt for an evening or date night Fall look. Head over to Style-Cassentials for all the details on how Cassie has styled the trend. Or check her out on Facebook here.
For a quick and easy Sunday Brunch outfit of the day, I paired this fantastic baby BATMAN tee (Ardene) with a simple cotton black pencil skirt (Old Navy) and these plaid loafers (Payless). No jewellery, just my white ceramic Michael Kors watch.
I’ll be honest with you… I was uber nervous about buying this shirt from Ardene. The largest they go is XL and often the quality of garments are for one-time wear. But somehow all of me fit into this this one….without streching poor Batman’s face all across my chest – #winning – so naturally this tee had to come home with me.
After all, {insert deep, throaty voice here} ….. I’M BATMAN! 🙂
ps: sorry for the unkept hair and lack of makeup – it was Sunday people. Geez!
Toronto kick’s off their Summerlicious season!!! Which means this petite plus diva gets to get dolled up to discover and experience the diverse cuisine this city has to offer at exceptional value!!! For two mouth-watering weeks in July, foodies savour delicious three-course prix fixe lunch and dinner menus at more than 200 of the city’s top restaurants.
Last Night a gf and I tried out CHURCH APERITIVO BAR. Located in an old church at Queen and Dovercourt….this spot’s speciality is Italian cuisine. The food was delish with very generous portions. The meatballs were just like my ex’s Nona used to make (once you added some of their chili-flake sauce). There’s a built-in 18% gratuity, and the paired wine with the menu turned out to be $15 PER GLASS. A little outrageous, I think, but waddya gonna do once your belly is full and the bill comes. Sadly, I failed to take any photos of my food … which is very unusual for me… guess we were more hungry than we thought. 🙂
Here’s what I wore:
Does this dress look familiar? That’s cuz … it was one of the dresses I wore for the collaboration photo shoot entitled“IS IT SPRING YET?”with Rebecca Northcott Photography and Your Big Sister’s Closet this past Spring.
I fell in love with this dress immediately! So much so that I had to buy it BEFORE we even got to the location for the photoshoot 🙂
If you look closely at the photo shoot pictures you’ll see my bra strap is showing … sigh. At the time I didn’t have one that was suitable of the way the back of this dress is cut. Buuuuuuut in the newer pictures from this post – this has been corrected with Cacique’s Lace Racerback Bra!!
For dinner, I’ve styled it casually with minimal jewellery, make up and accessories, in order to let the fantastic pattern & colours of this dress really shine.
Black suede platform sandals (Nine West) give me the height needed to wear this lovely maxi dress without any alterations!
Short Diva Trick – I tied a wee knot in the bottom of my dress so that I don’t trip over the length whist indoors without those sky-high platform sandals.
It was a bit on the cooler side that night – with temperatures threatening to dip into high teens tonight (+18) … so keeping that in mind, I paired this gorgeous maxi with an open black 3/4 sleeved cardi (Reitmans). In an effort to keep it ‘summertime fun’, I tied it in front rather than keeping it open so that the lovely paisley pattern doesn’t get hidden. 🙂
How I Got The Look:
Black & paisley maxi dress from Your Big Sister’s Closet (click here to see the photoshoot I did for them that prompted me to buy this dress)
Sandals from Nine West Outlet (click here to see my cross-boarder shopping haul post)
Black open cardi, Reitmans; Silver teardrop earrings, Payless; Black clutch wallet, Ardene
