What’s the 411?

Heyyyyyyy… it’s me! I know I’ve been hella quite with zero original content on my blog for a minute.

2017 began and I seemly fell off the face of the earth…according to this space.

Thanks for still remaining a PPMeow! follower, reader, fan, and friend….and for those kind emails sent asking about why such a long absence from writing for this blog. ❤ ❤ ❤

The first half of 2017 has been filled with adventure and struggle. And I’ve been trying to figure out how much of myself I’m comfortable sharing so publicly, on what started out as a fun-fashion-focused forum.

I don’t really deem myself a “fashion guru” or someone who’s opinions on clothes, shoes and the like, really matters. I like what I like. And write about it. That’s all. 🙂 Because of this, it just left me feeling a bit like a fraud running a fashion and lifestyle blog with the recent events of my life taking up so much brain space.

Since my last post … here’s a listing of all the the major things that have happened in the life & times of moi:

Got restructured out of a great team and job after 7-years of being with the company. Yup. Just like that.
Became a beach-bum in L.A., California.
Started a new job with a new company, and re-adjusting to cubical life.
Dealing with undiagnosable chronic pains in the tops of both my feet and legs.
Transformed into a nun for an evening with a self-sewn outfit.
Battled (can continue to struggle with) something called “walking depression”.
Cleaned out my closet (finally!) and donated a bunch of things to charity.
Got a new iPhone 7s with a fabulous camera.
Started a series called “Shameless Bathroom Selfies” on my Instagram channel 😉
Travelled and explored a whole bunch of places in New Mexico.
Flirted with, dated and sexxx’d some boys. 😉
Made major gains with Operation: Apartment Refresh.
Got MRI results that showed a large disc herniation of my spine, and finally given proper meds to manage the pain.
Sold MANY of my beloved heels in exchange for wine was the wise thing to do.
Took a short-term leave of absence from work (doctor’s orders) to really focus on healing and dealing with my spine issues.
Embraced the importance of wellness, rest and self-care…which in my case means regular spending on Physiotherapy & RMT.
Made NEW friends and visited them in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario.
Discovered a new product and the possibility of becoming an entrepreneur.
Did various yoga classes for 30-days in June.
Saw NKOTB – BoyzIIMen – Paula Abdul in concert!!!
Attended the Garden Gatsby Party and got caught on camera, in daytime 20s garb, lindyhopping poorly.
Got summoned for jury duty for the first time ever.
Became a fur-mom again to a senior dog named Max…and ever since I’ve been filling up my social media channels with pictures and videos of him. #sorrynotsorry
Had a neuro consult with some uncomfortable real talk.

Phew!!! 😮 That’s a lot of news in one recap blogpost.

So, in addition to the fashion forward fun, what I did and what I wore, shopping hauls, kitchen mis/adventures, product reviews, etc, that you’ve all come to know and love of Petite Plus, Meow! … I’m thinking of trying something new with this blog space and write about some of the above personal experiences … IF there is any interest/appetite out there of hearing it.

Cross-Border Shopping Extravaganza

After the Victorian Tea event at Your Big Sister’s Closet last month, I met a delightful lady with whom an instant friendship was born. Turns out this chick, Annika Reid is the chief designer and owner of Candi Apple Couture (who was soon to be launching into the bloggosphere) struggles with finding affordable bra options in Toronto. Naturally, our tea-time conversation quickly turned to planning a road trip to Buffalo to empty all of the Lane Bryant locations of their Cicaque bras!!! Annika had yet to learn of the magic of this brand – and I was more than happy to show her what a proper fitting bra could do. 🙂

So we took a day off work and left for the border bright and early …. but first a stop at currency exchange followed by the church of i.HOP…their Strawberry Banana Cream Pie Pancakes is an AMAZING and religious experience! God is Good!

Now…this was meant to be a very purposeful and focused cross border trip. There is absolutely no reason for me to be shopping. My closet is full and my shoe selection ample. This trip’s Mission was strictly for Over-The-Shoulder-Boulder-Holders! Buuuuut some how the following sofa-full of bags ended up coming home with me….

My Shoe Haul!

The deals on footwear in my size were just too good to pass up friends…. soooo this happened:

This was my very first time visiting Torrid … and I must say, when they throw a sale…they mean business!! Check out these two pairs I got from them:

Torrid: Black High-top platform kicks $14!!!

From Torrid: suede black sling-backs with gold pointed studs were $5! (I signed up for their store card…and got them for $2.50!!! Crazytown!)

Payless: each pair was $17!!!! Naturally I had to get them in ever colour that fit my feet!! 🙂

Then of course, we had to stop at the NineWest Outlet … they’ve never let me down yet…and with their Buy one Get one 1/2 off, these two babies became mine:

Kate Spade New York

I’ve been eyeing the Kate Spade bags for sometime now, but wasn’t sure if I was a “Kate Spade kinda girl”. But then I saw this paten-leather stripped beauty in the window, whist waiting for the girls to find WiFi service within the mall…..and I was hooked. I visited this shop TWICE before making my decision. I cradled and petted it. Wore it with its detachable cross-body strap. Held it by its handle and walked around the store a bit to see if I liked the look and weight of it. It was beautiful. But, did I really need another designer purse?

Then a conveniently placed shop-girl quickly informed me that this particular bag was not only discounted at 40%….but there was an ADDITIONAL 20% off this bag TODAY ONLY!!!! Well…that did it friends! She. Was. Mine! 🙂

Dresses

As I mentioned above, I truly set off with good intentions to keep my wallet tight….I had no intention of buying additional clothes this trip. Buuuuut then this happened….

The girls took me to a shop I’d never been before called: Rainbow. I was immediately drawn to this fantastic nautical cut-out hi-low dress….but at first glance I was too intimidated by it. But upon trying it on – I really really really loved it! And have been kicking myself for not buying it in the summer-tastic teal colour it came in as well as the navy I picked up. It pays to go shopping with two pushy chicks I tell ya 😉 (Thanks again ladies! You make be brave!)

Rainbow: Hi-low nautical stripes cut-out dress was $16!!!

I did end up buying TWO more dresses….a scalloped neck and hemlines lace dress from DressBarn ($39) and a coral-navy patterned faux wrap dress from Rainbow ($15!). I ended up wearing this one to this Speed Dating Event I recently attended …. stay tuned on my blog post on that friends 😉

Oh…did we buy bras? You bet we did!!! Lane Bryant’s Cacique bra selection goes right up to F, G and H-cup …. and they often have Buy one, Get one 1/2 off sales also! Which typically means this girl can get up to FOUR bras for less than the price of one in Toronto that doesn’t need to be custom ordered and fitted by a pricy lingerie shop.

Sadly, the selection was rather limited in terms of the styles vs. sizes needed this time around — strongly recommend you pre-order if you’re making a trip out there specifically for bras friends. I did pick up a deep plunge for those dresses that are cleavage specific, a perfect tee-shirt bra, a racer back lace french cut and a regular lace french cut. Curious of what these look like? All smiles with full bellies, empty wallets, and sore voices from all the Car-aoke singing all the way back to Toronto. ROAD TRIP COMPLETE! Woot! Woot!

There you have it! A Breakdown of my Cross-Border Extravaganza and Shopping Haul! It was a fantastic day. How many of y’all go cross border shopping on the regular? Star Wars in Fashion

I am one of those rare people who only watched the Star Wars movies as an adult, but never as a kid. And I’m proud to say I’ve become an instant fan – owning both sets of trilogies on blu-ray 🙂

My favourite character is R2-D2. Is there anything this beeping trash can on wheels can’t do?

He’s a projector, a Swiss Army Knife and tolerator of 3PO, all rolled into one. I don’t even mind that he’s gotten too CG in the prequels, when R2 dropped oil slick on some battle droids and ignited them with his personal jet boosters – he’s a rockstar and can do no wrong. He helped the Rebels topple the Empire, was X-Wing wingman to Luke and to C-3P0’s Riggs, and then stuck around to help the new Republic grow and prosper. R2-D2 is nothing but cool and reliable.

Any droid that can survive getting spit out by some Dagobah sea whale thing is worthy of winning my heart!

In an effort to celebrate May 4th – Star Wars Day – I’m dedicating this post to the awesome fun geeky fashions out there that I’d totally rock for realz (if I could find them)… paying homage to this fab sci-fi cultural phenomenon that is STAR WARS.

Quest for Silver Shoes…

I’m going to be a Bridesmaid for a gfs wedding at the end of this month… at the Bride’s request we the Bridesmaids need to find ourselves silver shoes.

For those of you who know me – I love me some shoes!!! ❤ But to my surprise, among my current collection zero silver options existed. The Bride did say grey pumps were a suitable substitute (which I have)…but I thought I’d poke around a few shoe stores yesterday while I was in the downtown core during my lunch break and see if I could find silver flats that floated my boat enough to wanna wear post-wedding.

The quest for silver shoes led to this mini-haul:

Ladies! There are crazy deals afoot on footwear at the flagship store at AdditionElle – pun totally intended in this shoe post 😉

I picked up these seriously-sexy thigh-high wedge boots for $25!!!!! No joke! No catch! $25! Now granted, they aren’t leather and likely not meant for the snow & slush we’ve been contending with…buuuut at this price if I can get a few wears during good weather days over the next few months I’m laughing! $25!!! I’d be loosing money if I didn’t buy it, right? Right! 🙂
Plus…they had tights reduced to $3 a pair!!!! Crazy town…picked up a white and teal pair. How can you leave them on the rack at this price-point? Exactly – you don’t!

OH… Sadly….no silver shoes to be found at AdditionElle.

Then I tried Winners at ScotiaPlaza…sadly, no silver shoes that curled my toes…buuuuut check out theses cutie-pies!!! Couldn’t decide on which I liked and needed more: classic black & white OR pink & tan…? At $29 each…why choose? Both pairs clearly needed to be mine. And so they followed me home too. 🙂

The last spot I wanted to check for silver bridesmaid shoe options was Payless across from the Eaton Center…and there they were! Simple silver glittery flats for a steal at $19! Boom! Shopping done like a Boss!

This bridesmaid-ing stuff is tough…I’m beat! 🙂

Oh…you’ll notice in my haul there’s three packages of pantyhose. At the end of the day I quickly stopped by Dollarama for black sheer pantyhose. YUP Dollarama friends! I dunno ’bout y’all, but if I just look at hosiery the wrong way, they’ll run…LITTERALLY! So I’ve quit buying expensive hosiery. The Queen size at the Dollarama fits this petite plus chick just fine and looks fab…Meow!
