Gawd!! I fell in love with this on the hangers at Tatyana Boutique – before they closed their Toronto location – which means up to 80% discounts on all their gorgeous frocks.
So I picked up this bad boy…and have been patiently waiting for my birthday to wear it. 🙂
Not like I ever need an excuse to treat myself to a new frock …teeheee 😛 ….
But if you’ve got a looming birthday on the horizon – that is an EXCELLENT excuse to treat = a new outfit!
At the time of purchasing this dress, I didn’t really have any plans to celebrate my birthday. All I knew was that this dress needed to be mine.
Click here for more deets of the exact moment this dress stole my heart! ❤ ❤ ❤
Just look at the fun and sassy lace embellishment around the entire neckline ….. ❤
This dress came with a sweet little deep green ribbon belt…. which I chose to wear in my hair instead of around my waist.
Now Toronto’s still pretty lucky with the weather we’ve been getting. So for true birthday purposes wearing this dress solo was perfect!!!
But with Fall officially here now, a girl’s gotta come up with ideas to keep cute + warm.
Here’s my plans for this dress into cooler temperatures….until the snow hits, that is:
Live Music! Plays and Performances! Dancing! Sailing! Spas!Shopping!
Outdoor movies! Cultural Festivals! Foods from around the world!
Annnnnnd all of these things are usually FREE and are walking distance from each other! No car required! ❤
Combo Royale performing under the Harbourfront Bandshell
There have been many wonderful fun-filled days this summer – but the most memorable was an unexpected Saturday afternoon that turned into a full day-o-fun!!!
It began with a play – an interactive dark comedy – THE WEDDING – put on by an independant theatre company: The Lighthouse Troupe. As audience members aka the wedding guests, we were encouraged to dress nicely, sign-in at a guest registry, find their table, and interact with the various members of the wedding party, much like a real reception. You know me – any reason to get dressed up is my kind of event! 🙂
After the show… we walked into Harbourfront for their Spicy Food Festival and found a free jazz concert which naturally led to impromptu lindyhopping on grass!
A Large Lady Lindy Hopping – yup! That’s me! 🙂
After that we walked along Queens Quay to Sugar Beach for Sail-in Cinema’s screening of The Princess Bride …
❤ My most favourite movie ❤
Since we arrived kinda late … we found a patch of sand for our blankets way in the back sadly, making the Sail-in screen teeny-tiny.
Plus, it seems we were too late for the courtesy popcorn and back-rests that many around us seemed to have nabbed.
Le sigh…
Our sad seats on the sand, way in the back of Sugar Beach…before the win~INCONCEIVABLE! 😉
THEN….the event announcer asked for a family-of-4 who would/could potentially win a fabulous prize for answering a single movie trivia question.
When they failed…we managed to flag him down and I provided the CORRECT answer… which won us seats on a sail boat to watch the movie!!!
And there were handsome sailors too! #bonus 😛
Knowing useless Princess Bride trivia won us seats on Canada’s Fastest Sail boat! Boom!!!
THIS was our view for the movie … just waiting for the sun to set so that the movie could start!!!
Floating around on Canada’s fastest sail boat, eating popcorn with sailors and watching the greatest movie ever …
A perfect ending to a wonderfully unexpected summer day!
Curious about what I’m wearing?

Special thanks to Ellie for capturing those dancing pictures! And to Five for the pictures on the boat!
Wearing summer appropriate outfits that fit with corporate-life and life-life can be a challenge.
But having solid staple pieces make things a bit easier.
Take this outfit I threw together for one of the few days I’m forced into downtown Toronto office life.
A simple stripped pencil skirt can be worn for work and play. Bone kitten heels are always at the ready at the office.
The crochet top isn’t something I’ve worn to the office before. It’s really from my ‘summer beach time’ wardrobe. But with a solid cami worn underneath, it becomes totally wearable for the office.
A hot pink blazer just pulls the look together, giving the illusion that some effort was made when I came up with this look.
My uncombed hair, on the other hand, gives me away 😛
How I Got The Look:
Pink Blazer, INC Hudson Bay Co.; Stripped pencil skirt, Marshalls; Crochet top, Forever21+; Bone kitten heels, NineWest

Whatever you call them, the Bra is an essential item in a woman’s closet and a critical element to making any outfit look exceptional!
But if you’re a busty, full-figured gal, find options that are comfortable, affordable and pretty just isn’t easily done. Now, add the extra complexity of wearing those cute Summer outfits to the burden of the rack.
BEFORE
Like this one! I basically live in dresses like this all Summer long.
Simple, light, and NOT black! That’s my go-to Summer look 🙂
Since bra manufacturing, and the fashion industry for that matter, hasn’t fully realized that “nude” isn’t exactly nude to all skin tones …
Wearing a black bra is the only available colour that does its best to appear invisible against my skin when wearing light/white tops.
THE SOLUTION
The Plunge/Convertible Bijou Bra by Elomi
How sweet are these pink ribbons with black polka-dots. ❤
Plus pink stitching details at the side of the cups … just so pretty. ❤

AFTER
Tah-dah! Criss-cross action of this bra underneath this thin cotton dress makes everything better!
Yes, there’s bit of a peek-a-strap … but its a huge improvement over what I was wearing.
Added bonus of this Plunge/Convertible Bijou Bra was its smoothing factor.
This just might be the perfect T-shirt bra!! What do you think?
There you have it friends. Our special Summer Outfit Bra-blem Solved series comes to an end.

And you know what that means – beautiful Summer dresses with difficult necklines for a bra to work with.
Le sigh…
As If it wasn’t already oh-so-dififcult finding bras that fit larger chests properly + pretty + affordable. But Summer brings with it a whole other set of bra-blems!!!
This week on the blog we’ve got a mini-series dedicated to specific Summer Bra-blemsI’ve experienced and showing you how Broad Lingerie found me a solution, making that Summer outfit even more Wow + Wearable this time around 😉
BEFORE
Here I am… last Summer I found this adorable halter-neck dress, one that I’ve been coveting on my Pinterest closet for months and suddenly found it on a sale rack in a shop here in Toronto!!!
It got me. Hook, Line and Sinker … Click here for that original post for frock deets.
Sadly it was a bit too small to button over my ta-tas. But I loved it anyways and came up with the following way to wear it in public. :p
My tank-top solution worked out well to cover up the gap in the front, buuuut the giant black bra straps and tank straps view from the back isn’t so cute.
THE SOLUTION
Smoothing Strapless/Halter Bra by Elomi
AFTER
Strapless bras are always a challenge when it comes to a good fit and the stay-in-place factor, especially if you’re blessed-in-the-chest.
There was some gaping with this bra, but once the hater strap was attached the fit of Elomi’s strapless bra was much improved.
What do you think ofBroad Lingerie’s solution to my bra-blem for this summer outfit?

With the weather warming up at hyper-speeds in Toronto and the CAD $ yet to improve, my need for finding over-the-shoulder-boulder-holders WITHOUT cross-boarder shopping was becoming an urgent priority.
At the beginning of May, on the heels of me posting a Boobs & Bra-related rant post – click here for that – She Does The City, an online ‘imperfect life guide for women” announced that there was a new lingerie boutique that had opened in Toronto specifically for those blessed in the chest!!!
❤ ❤ ❤
Could it be? Have the stars and straps really aligned? Could all my bra-blems be solved with the arrival of this much-needed local shop?
Only one way to find out! 😉
Broad Lingerieis a store dedicated to women who wear cup sizes DD and above. Our aim is to make bras and swimwear accessible to fuller busted women by offering a smarty curated selection of basic and fashion styles sold at affordable pricing in a welcoming atmosphere.
What really struck me about this shop was the fact that those larger bra sizes that I was on the hunt weren’t all hidden in a backroom requiring a special request before they could be seen. 😮
Nope. They were just hanging out there with all the rest of ’em… in all their glory awaiting to be perused, touched and even tried on without anyone’s assistance.
A shocking, yet refreshing approach rarely seen in my bra-shopping experience.
Fellow blogger and friend, Stef, did a great write-up of her experience with Broad Lingerie upon their store opening.
Sam, the shop owner, provided me with a proper bra fitting, since every brand fits a little different.
Together we selected TWO new Boobie-Traps (ha!) to solve my biggest bra-related irritants:
1. the “back band ride-up” and 2. the “quad-boob + underwire poke” combo!
Stay tuned for a special Summer Outfit Bra-blem Solved series THIS week where I’ll be featuring the Broad Lingerie fixes for some of those “difficult summer necklines”! 😉
Our special Spring Trends Double Feature continues with fellow petite plus blogger, Cassie from Style Cassentials.
Today we’re talking about Fetching Florals.

“Florals for Spring. How original.” – Miranda Presley, The Devil Wears Prada
This is not a new trend, I know. But the truth is be I *don’t* actually have many floral pieces in my wardrobe.
I have really been struggling to find a spring outfit to fit this theme … that I actually wanna wear.
And then I found this!!!!
I’ve been longing to find the perfect pastel to grace my spring wear.
When I found this wide leg culotte pant jumpsuit in this great pantone custard + floral pattern … I was nervous when I added it to my cart without trying it on.
Plus size onesies aren’t always magical (Click here and here and here for more on my thoughts on jumpsuits).
But the colour, a soft lime custard. ❤ The floral print in lovely pastel colours. ❤
Just look at that sweet little keyhole with button closure in back! ❤ The slant pockets! ❤
And the fabric…. oh-so soft and lightweight rayon, super easy to wear into the Summer months too. ❤ ❤ ❤
The elasticized waist with drawstring tie, helps give me a nice cinched-in look.
I wasn’t sure about the loose, wide cropped leg look on my frame …but I’m so glad that I didn’t let that keep me away. 🙂
Since I’m petite (short), it hits me a bit past mid-calf mark…so maybe I’ll get this hemmed a bit
Where did I find this V-Neck Jumpsuit that fits all of my ample top and bottom halves? 😮
Old eff’ing Navy!!
They are just killing it this season with their pieces!
And when I checked out online, I got 41% off + FREE shipping! #winning Affordable, trendy, good-looking Spring fashion.
You Can’t Go Wrong!!
How I Got The Look: Floral jumpsuit, Old Navy; Jelly shoes from my Malaysia trip last year; Sandals + flower clips from Aldo; Aviator sunnies from some shop on WQW
Cassie is wearing this large floral print two-piece. Love how the turquoise and pink pops against the black.

Cher. Dionne. Tai. Even Ambuler. These ladies shaped the 90s in one of the most iconic movies ever.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Clueless.
Clueless is an unabashed celebration of being a girly girl. The ladies love fashion, makeup, and shopping yet their interests aren’t portrayed as silly or symbolic of their feminine natures.
Because strangely enough you can like high heels and lipstick and still like boys and be a bad-ass-bitch too. 😉
How many fantastic, over-the-top looks were there in this flick? I’ve just picked out the few that I really, really loved….
SO. MUCH. PLEATED. PLAID. ❤
Now this below look was Cher’s 2nd choice of course, as she couldn’t find her 1st choice before her driving test… 😉
Where’s my white collarless shirt from Fred Segal! It’s my most capable-looking outfit!
I just love this red outfit Cher’s wearing while playing cupid to Mr. Hall and Miss Geist.
CHER’S MATCH-MAKING LOOK
And last, but not least, this sweet pale pink satin ensemble Cher wears for Mr. Hall and Miss Geist’s wedding …
Kinda timeless, hm?
PRETTY IN PINK FOR THE WEDDING
What else makes this movie so great?
Well, this may be the only film we have that proves that Paul Rudd did at one point have the ability to age.
Gwad! He’s. So. Dreamy. ❤
In addition to all of the above…..this flick introduced us to smart, real words like “sporadically” and “existential” while simultaneously creating an entire new teen-friendly vocabulary of words like “buggin’,” “jeepin’,” and “hagsville.” 🙂
And for the love of one-liners …. many of which continue to come outta my mouth occasional…
Whateve’r!?
Ugh, As If!
Rollin’ with the Homies
She’s a full on Monet
People will be quoting this movie for the rest of eternity.
Need help translating Clueless terms to their meanings now? Click here!
This past weekend, I was doing just that, Rolling with my Homies at the Quote-A-Long screening at the Bloor Cinema to do just that.
Naturally, we had to dress the part…
Two total Betties and a Baldwin 😉
How I Got The Look: Skirt, Forever21+; Argyle sweater, Reitmans; Glossy Mary-Janes, Payless; Knee-high socks super old
I had another outfit planned …see my Instagram channel , if your curious – oh, and follow me 😉 …but since it was eff’ing cold, I went to this argyle sweater instead.
Oooooooo! Project!! 😉
There you have it friends…What I Did AND What I Wore!
Still can’t believe it’s been 20 years of Clueless. Not sure how that happened, as I haven’t aged a day 😉
Hope you enjoyed this post…and this great spoof below.
And what a spectacular night it was… with a gorgeous venue – The Great Hall on WQW!
It was the night I finally got to wear this adorable Russian nesting-dolls dress and fuzzy peach bolero I picked up at Tatyana’s crazy up to 90% off sale!!!
And danced my feet off!!!

REMEMBRANCE DAY
I’m embarrassed to say that this was the first year I’ve ever attended Remembrance Day Ceremonies as an adult.
Since I had the day off, I made my way to Old City Hall in Toronto and pinned my poppy to the wreath at the memorial there.
Got to see the fly-by of vintage World War II planes in ‘missing man formation’, and hear Mayor John Tory’s speech.
It was quite a moving experience to be apart of. For more pictures, check out my Instagram channel and follow me.
CHEF’S PLATE
With the end of the month here, I usually post a new recipe that I’ve tried out myself, for the blog.
Have you noticed that I haven’t been keeping up with this since around August/September?
Well, that is because I’ve been cooking up a storm with Chef’s Plate! Here’s what I’ve made this past month:
This fantastic service has helped introduce me to so many new veggies and dishes…and has given me new confidence in the kitchen.

1940’s @ GOORIN’S HAT SHOP
The Toronto Lindy Hop Community were invited to an exclusive shopping event at Goorin Bross on WQW – these fabulous hat makers were raffling off 3 gorgeous hats.
Hats. Wine. Live Music. #Boom
I was crushing on this one like crazy!!!
With Xmas nearby… I couldn’t justify dropping big money on any of the beautiful hats I tried on that night.
But I did come home with an Xmas gift certificate present and feathers for a hat I picked up at the Toronto Vintage Clothing Show last year.
Goorin Bros feathers amp up this vintage hat find, don’t you think?
Which meant, I was entered into the draw. And guess who won….
I WON! I WON!!!!!
Turns out in all my excitement to get this winning hat on my head for photos …. I was wearing this beauty of a 1940s propeller hat BACKWARDS.
How embarrassing
Here I am … wearing it properly. (Excuse the no makeup face and demoted only-wear-at-home tank top) 🙂
SWING OUT TO VICTORY
And last, but certainly not least….. was the fabulous dinner dance in Hamilton called: Swing Out To Victory!!!
Last year… was my first year attending this fab event. And I ended up winning 2nd place for the BEST VINTAGE OUTFIT Contest!!!
Accessories were selected first – complete with ‘arrival shoes’ (Aldo), purse (Tatyana Boutique) and ‘dance shoes’ (Keds) plus nautical socks (Ardene). I was ready! 🙂
So naturally, this year outfit planning started early…
I had picked up this nautical wiggle dress from Tatyana LAST year and have been dying to unveil it all year-long.
Dancing among the planes, to a live BIG BAND, with men in uniforms….
Um, YES PLEASE!!!
Deets on my outfit and outer wear…
Right picture: Purse and Dress from Tatyana Boutique, Shoes from Aldo, Gloves from 69Vintage
Left picture: White coat from Forever21+, Mink stole from Public Butter …. I really like this look, must remember to do this more often in the winter months 😉
Like I said… It was a busy November 🙂
